The 16th Southern African Plant Breeders’ Association Symposium

The Southern African Plant Breeding Association (SAPBA) is delighted to announce the 16th SAPBA Symposium with a theme “Breeding Innovation and Resilience.” This symposium is scheduled to take place from 9th to 11th March 2026, at Premier Splendid Inn Umhlanga, Durban KwaZulu-Natal. This venue will be host to both the academic programme as well as the gala dinner.

Registration fees

Symposium registration fees are as follows:
The symposium fees cover the full 3-day package including, lunches, coffee/tee breaks as well as the gala dinner.

  • Non-member (R6000.00)
  • Full-member (R4500.00)
  • Student member (R3500.00)
  • Student non-member (R4000.00)

Early registration closes: 23 January 2026

Late registration closes: 9 February 2026

NOTE: Accommodation is NOT included in the symposium package, and should be arranged by each delegate or his/her organization. See the accommodation section below for possible options.

Abstracts

We invite you to submit abstracts for both oral and poster presentations. The deadline for abstract submission is as follows:

  • 01 December 2025, for oral presentation.
  • 05 December 2025, for poster presentations.

Please note that all abstracts submitted for oral presentations will also be considered for posters if the oral submission is unsuccessful.
